Congratulations on choosing dentures for your smile and dental health! You're so excited to meet friends out for brunch since you finally made the leap and invested in yourself. You can smile confidently again and order anything on the menu—it doesn't get better!

But now that you've made your smile investment, you'll need to know how to care for your dentures and make the most of your new teeth. Here are some helpful tips for denture care.

#1 Clean Removable Dentures Daily

It is a good idea to remove your dentures at night and clean them with a soft-bristle toothbrush and denture cleanser. Do not use regular toothpaste, especially whitening toothpaste, as it can be abrasive and scratch the surface of your acrylic dentures.

This step removes any bacteria buildup or debris remaining from meals from your dentures.

#2 Soak Over Night

Soak your removable dentures overnight in a denture-cleaning solution. This helps to keep them fresh, clean, and stain-free.

#3 Handle Your Denture Carefully

When you remove your denture to clean it, consider filling the sink with lukewarm water or covering it with a towel. This way, if you drop your denture, it is protected from cracking or damage.

Never use hot water to rinse or clean your denture. It could cause the material to warp and affect the fit of your appliance.

#4 Maintain Gum Health

When you remove your denture for soaking, gently brush your gums and tongue to remove bacteria. Good oral hygiene is essential for maintaining gum health, which is important for comfortable denture wear.

#5 Visit Your Dentist Yearly

Even though you no longer have teeth, you must visit your dentist at least once a year for routine checkups and to ensure the proper fit and function of your removable denture.
